You are invited to a private screening of Seventh-Gay Adventists: A film about faith on the margins at the Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center at 313 N. 13th St., Lincoln on Sunday, April 29 at 1 p.m. 

Seventh-Gay Adventists is a character-driven documentary about faith and identity set in the context of the Seventh-day Adventist church. The film follows three gay and lesbian Seventh-day Adventists as they wrestle with how to reconcile their sexual orientation and their deeply held faith, and it explores what it means to belong when you find yourself on the margins.

So far the response to these preview screenings has been incredibly positive. Viewers felt the film's tone and emphasis on stories are the right way to move this conversation forward, regardless of theological differences. We hope you can be part of this dialogue, particularly because Lincoln was one of the first places the filmmakers interviewed gay and lesbian Adventists and their families.

The filmmakers as well as two of the people featured in the film (one of them a graduate of Union College with extensive ties to the Lincoln area) will be present for a Q & A after the screening. The screening is free of charge thanks to the University of Nebraska's Ross Center. (Donations will be accepted to help cover travel expenses and future screenings.) When you arrive at The Ross on the University of Nebraska campus, you'll need to trade in the tickets you reserve here for one of theirs.

I'm helping to organize this private screening because I'm the mother of a gay Adventist, and I hope very much that this film will help us all connect, listen, and dialogue about this complex topic through the framework of real stories and real experiences.
